Lesson (& Mubarak) Out of Egypt

11 Feb

Egypt is finally free from the man who became known as the “Last Pharoah,” Hosni Mubarak.  Mubarak, until today was the leader of Egypt since Sadat was assassinated in 1981.  Over the years, his people have been harshly ruled, and now because of their intense scrutiny of him and their social media-driven protests, Mubarak has finally acquiesced to the demands of his people.

I’m captivated by stories of change like this.  When the underdog finally wins…  when the weak unite and defeat the strong…when the oppressed rise up and won’t stand anymore for the control of their oppressor.  But these things don’t just happen, do they?

Amazing change comes only from dedication and sacrifice and purpose that is greater than any one individual.  The Bible says that without vision, the people will die.  When vision is spread, anything can happen.  Egypt has demonstrated to me in a spectacular fashion that when people unite, giants will fall.

Let’s unite.
