American Idol Gives Back

10 Apr

I am utterly amazed by something that happened last night on American Idol. Last night’s show was a spectacular show for several reasons. First of all, it was counter-cultural. American Idol turned into a show that was honoring to God because the show focused on caring for the poor and hurting.

In addition to that, the end of the show had Ryan Seacrest introducing the 8 finalists to sing the song, “Shout to the Lord.” It was beautiful and inspiring, and it made me think that God will be glorified no matter what. Even the rocks will cry out.

Yes and AMEN!! I had to ask Jay if I heard correctly when they announced the song they would end with. It was beautiful – I think some of them really DO know what they’re singing (Brook White for starters, and I suspect Aiyesha) but I pray that they all had some seeds planted during the rehearsal and performance of this song!

I wept tears of joy when I watched this!!! Diane mentioned it to me last night and I was shocked. Praise God for being glorified through American Idol.

“I will exalt You, my God and King, and praise Your name forever and ever. I will praise You every day; yes, I will praise You forever.Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! Noone can measure His greatness.”
    Psalm 145:1-3

    He IS Lord!! Amen

Neil Schori…you’re awesome! First time reading through your blog and I have to say it is refreshing to read through such realistic christian thoughts! God CAN use anyone, even on American Idol…who would guess that? Love to your family…

I’d like to change that verse to…”Even the rockSTARS will cry out!” 🙂
